At Shelter, we do not require a previous background in the insurance industry, but a motivated attitude, entrepreneurial spirit, and strong communication skills in a sales environment are essential.

While some sales experience and a degree with general business courses is helpful, our in‑house and virtual new agent training, combined with ongoing industry education, equips you with the foundation to launch your agency.

We do not require prospective agents to have capital or assets on hand, nor do we "sell" agencies or provide loans. The only expectations are meeting sufficient sales requirements and core business proficiencies. If you cease to be a Shelter Agent, your financial responsibilities are limited to any unsatisfied bills owed through your departure.

A true business owner's mindset is required to succeed. While developing prospects and selling Shelter products will be your main focus, you may also have the opportunity to bring on staff to help with general administrative duties and improve your sales.
