Responsibilities
- Champion and support the Corewell Health/CHMG system mission, values, vision, and strategic priorities, including APP Services’ key strategies. Set APP job expectations and ensure patient access goals are met, facilitating change when necessary. Perform the essential functions of a CRNA or CAA.
- Promote respectful and collaborative communications between physician leaders and APPs. Lead by example with a commitment to enhance APP/physician collaboration. Collaborate with operational/physician leaders to influence workforce planning and APP recruitment, and participate in the APP recruitment and hiring process per RAPID decision-making.
- Conduct performance/mentorship discussions, including annual performance reviews guided by the APP scorecard. Foster APP career development and implement strategies to promote retention. Lead the APP merit process with operational/physician leadership, and participate in financial planning and cost-reduction initiatives. Facilitate APP student placement and promote positive clinical experiences within the service line, with assistance from SHOME, identifying high-performing students for future recruitment.
Oversee the APP mentorship program within the team and coordinate EPIC optimization with APPs. - Performance mentoring and corrective action planning with guidance from HR, the APP Director, operational/physician leadership. Participate in the termination process.
- Approve expenses such as CME, PTO, ESC; process payroll adjustments; and manage API in collaboration with the operational team within the service line.
- Ensure completion, in a timely manner and in collaboration with the operational team, of annual compliance training, TB testing, flu vaccine, license renewal, and other required certifications.
- Support and promote high-quality care, focus on patient satisfaction, and best-practice initiatives within the service line.
- Required:
Master’s Degree – Master of Science in Nurse Anesthesia, Master of Science in Anesthesiology (MSA), or Master of Medical Science (MMSC). - Preferred:
Doctorate – Doctor or Nursing Practice (DNP) with anesthesia specialization. - Licensure:
Registered Nurse (RN) – State of Michigan (required upon hire). - Certification:
At least one license/certification in specialty (e.g., National Certification Examination by NBCRNA – required upon hire). - Certification:
At least one license/certification in specialty (e.g., National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants exam – required upon hire). - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – American Heart Association (90 days required).
