Key Responsibilities

  • Safety & Compliance
  • Lead and manage assigned safety programs, including annual audits and ongoing compliance initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
  • Monitor workplace health standards and stay current on regulatory changes and industry best practices.
  • Conduct facility inspections to identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Survey, analyze, and interpret occupational and environmental health data (chemical exposure, noise, air quality, ergonomics, etc.).
  • Oversee and conduct Industrial Hygiene exposure monitoring.
  • Compile and submit required regulatory reports and documentation.
  • Conduct incident and accident investigations and prepare root cause analyses.
  • Prepare reports on industrial accident causes and safety hazards.
  • Participate in investigations involving insurance claims, hearings, and legal matters.
  • Promote safe work behaviors and proactive hazard identification across the plant.
Training & Culture
  • Develop and implement safety training programs for managers and employees, including fire prevention, chemical handling, PPE use, and equipment safety.
  • Provide technical guidance to management, employees, and external agencies.
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented environment focused on safety and continuous improvement.
Leadership & Supervision
  • Supervise, coach, mentor, and develop two hourly safety employees.
  • Manage daily work assignments, performance evaluations, training, and disciplinary actions.
  • Encourage teamwork and accountability within the department.
  • Support budget objectives and resource planning.
  • Serve as backup to the Safety Manager and keep leadership informed of significant safety matters.
Qualifications Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in occupational health, safety, and/or environmental compliance in a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or lead experience in plant safety
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
Certifications
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred
  • CPR certification required
  • Basic First Aid training required
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and manufacturing safety standards
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and leadership skills
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and incident investigation skills
  • Ability to influence, train, and engage employees at all levels
  • Demonstrated ability to build a strong safety culture
Physical & Work Requirements
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach, handle materials, and communicate
  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment
