Direct Support Professional; DSP

Overview

Part Time with potential of Full Time Hours. Overnights and afternoons.

• As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you provide services to individuals with developmental disabilities in their homes and in the community.
• You may teach individuals how to complete tasks.
• You may assist with daily living activities, including housekeeping, meal and menu preparation, grocery shopping, day-to-day finances, and related tasks.
• You may assist with personal hygiene, including bathing, grooming, dressing and undressing, feeding, toileting, and positioning when necessary.
• You may provide transportation for delegated activities, such as doctor appointments, community outings, shopping, and vacations.
• You may document and administer medication and health-related tasks.
• You may report to your supervisor any suspected medical needs, evidence of abuse, neglect, and other health and safety issues.
• You may gain the trust of the individuals and develop relationships as part of their support network.

• High School Diploma or GED
• 18 years of age or older
• Valid Driver’s License (with fewer than six points)
• Reliable transportation with current proof of state minimum auto insurance; most positions require use of a personal automobile during work hours
