Qualifications- Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education
- One year teaching experience preferred
- Valid Ohio Early Childhood Education License
- Valid Ohio driver’s license
- Successful completion of BCI/FBI background checks and medical examination requirement upon employment
Under general supervision, constructs and implements, with assistance from the Itinerant Teacher, individual education plans for early childhood students including students with disabilities, conducts required assessments and screenings to document student progress toward goals and objectives; participates in parent conference to share information pertaining to student progress, and provides support to the general education staff
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Ensure safety of students, taking all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities

- Ability to communicate with children, parents, staff and community members and remain courteous and professional with children, parents, and staff
- A sincere commitment to the philosophy of the Early Childhood Department and to the objectives of an early childhood intervention program
- Responsible for meeting and maintaining all requirements for (1) Ohio Department of Education licensing and (2) the Early Childhood Guidelines
- Encourage, stimulate and develop parent involvement in the centers through parent center committees and special meetings and activities as deemed appropriate for the endeavor
- With assistance from the Itinerant Teacher, plan an individualized program for each child including goals for IEP’s, if applicable, and complete screenings and reporting in a timely manner
- Plan and conduct instructional activities and experiences in the early childhood classroom connected to early childhood standards
- Conduct home visits and parent teacher conferences as required by the program guidelines
- Maintain and be responsible for all center equipment, its use, maintenance, inventory, cleanliness and storage
- Directly supervise the following center personnel: early childhood paraprofessionals, assuring that conferences, evaluations and duties are performed as required by the personnel policies and procedures, job descriptions and other relevant material
- Participate in the revision of the written program plans and support materials annually in consultation with community representatives, and other staff as requested by coordinator and/or director
- Attend all building/district staff meetings and other applicable events. Work cooperatively with the principal, teaching staff, and cook/custodian to maintain a positive relationship between the school district and MVESC
- Prepare monthly reports timely and accurately (attendance, in-kind Volunteer Services sheet)
- Report progress of program to Program Coordinator or Director
- Follow and enforce all safety regulations
- Be responsible for the direct supervision of the children assigned to the class at all times
- Involve the parent in the education, healthcare, nutrition and general development of their child
- Follow building emergency drills, or if off-site from elementary building, conduct monthly fire and tornado drills
