Data Architect

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Data Architecture to join a leading technology and innovation firm supporting mission‑critical healthcare IT programs for the Department of Defense, for a Fully Remote role. The Data Architect will help define and implement data architecture standards, ensure interoperability across complex systems, and enable secure, integrated solutions that drive operational medicine workflows and advanced analytics, as well as collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate business needs into robust, scalable data strategies aligned with enterprise standards.

• Define and maintain JOMIS data architecture standards (data domains, naming conventions, logical models) and create architecture artifacts such as data flow diagrams, logical models, and dependency maps.
• Document and manage end‑to‑end data flows (sources, transformations, storage, downstream use) and design integration approaches that support operational medicine workflows, interoperability, and reporting needs.
• Establish and enforce data governance practices ensuring quality, consistency, traceability, and compliance with PHI/PII handling in coordination with cybersecurity and regulatory teams.
• Enable analytics and advanced AI use cases by improving data readiness, reliability, and structure to support reporting, interoperability across JOMIS systems, and external partners.
• Collaborate with stakeholders (product owners, engineers, vendors) to translate operational needs into data requirements and track integration efforts in Jira across multiple products.

• 7+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or enterprise data environments
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• Strong understanding of data modeling, data integration, and data governance principles
• Experience working with complex systems in regulated or federal environments
• Familiarity with managing sensitive data, including privacy controls, access restrictions, and audit requirements
• Ability to clearly document technical concepts for both technical and non‑technical audiences
• Experience working in Agile or iterative delivery environments
• Must already have or be eligible to obtain a DHA Public Trust clearance

• Salary Range: $100,000–$115,000
