Summary
The Point of Care Supervisor oversees and manages the POCT program across multiple Onvida Health laboratories and clinic locations. This role ensures compliance with regulatory standards and delivers high‑quality patient care by maintaining accurate test results.
Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and manage the POCT program, ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. Prepare SOPs, verification plans, and verification assessments according to laboratory policy and CLSI standards.
- Provide training and ongoing competency assessments for clinical staff performing POCT, both waived and moderately complex.
- Monitor and evaluate the quality and accuracy of POCT results, implementing corrective actions as necessary. Organize monthly QA reports and attend leadership meetings for QA review.
- Oversee the purchase, inventory, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of POCT equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of POCT activities, including test results, quality control data, and staff training and competencies.
- Collaborate with laboratory personnel, clinical staff, and management to integrate POCT into patient care seamlessly. Participate in organizational committee meetings such as Practice Development and Diabetes Management, and serve as the POCT subject‑matter expert for onboarding new clinics and devices.
- Stay current on regulatory changes and ensure the POCT program adheres to all relevant guidelines and standards. Conduct CAP checklists and self‑inspections timely and participate in off‑site inspections when requested.
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, or Clinical Laboratory Science (required).
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) (required).
- Minimum of 3 years in a clinical laboratory setting; at least 1 year in POCT preferred.
- Valid/Current driver’s license meeting YRMC fleet safety program requirements.
