SummaryThe Patient Care Assistant II is a member of the healthcare team who provides direct and indirect patient care duties, supporting nursing within the Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) scope of practice.
Responsibilities- Adheres to workflows and patient care tasks outlined by training and orientation. Accepts delegation from nurses to provide care in alignment with scope of practice.
- Conducts effective handoff between care team members, including communication with the nurse regarding the patient’s care plan each shift and contributes to the admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
- Attentive to patient and visitor needs, maintaining compassionate care that addresses both physical and emotional aspects of well‑being and communicating clearly and effectively through established systems concerning relevant information.
- Assists patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including patient hygiene, pressure injury prevention, safe mobility, and reduces risk of harm to patients through safety interventions.
- Transport patient specimens safely and effectively, documents accurately and timely in the Medical Record, and appropriately reports to the nursing staff any concerns identified.
- Contributes to seamless department operations by maintaining workplace cleanliness, supply management, and vigilant patient care equipment maintenance and management.
- Maintains professional responsibilities related to education, training, and accountability to department communication methods.
- May be oriented to unit secretarial duties, including responding to incoming calls, supporting personnel through interdepartmental and interprofessional communications; using organizational communication systems to notify of codes such as Code White and Code Neuro.
- Specific to inpatient locations: purposeful rounding in alignment with policy, educating patients on call light use, and ensuring call light responsiveness.
- Specific to Women’s and Children’s units: responsibilities related to registration, certification, patient admission, insurance authorization, electronic birth records, paternity testing, and recording fetal death.
- Other duties as assigned by department leadership.
- BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (BLS)
- LICENSED NURSING ASSISTANT (LNA)
- HS DIPLOMA/GED
High school diploma or GED;
Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association (AHA);
Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA).
Hourly pay: $20.95 – $31.43 per hour (salary range may vary).
