Pool Manager

Overview

Under the direction of the Special Operations Supervisor, the Pool Manager is tasked with cultivating a culture that places safety first while encouraging creative thinking, teamwork, and open communication. The Pool Manager supervises the aquatics and front gate personnel in the daily operation of the City of Yukon Aquatic Facilities, and is responsible for the development of Head Lifeguards, Lifeguards, and Front Gate Attendants.

The Pool Manager will serve as the front-line role model for all Aquatics personnel, and as such must be aware of all policies, regulations, and programming standards, and demonstrate them in all that they do. Through dedicated leadership, the Pool Manager plans, guides, and organizes bi-weekly staff meetings and in-service trainings. The Pool Manager oversees the sanitization process at their designated pool as a Certified Pool Operator.

This position requires weekend, evening, and holiday work.

• Assumes the roles of all direct reports when necessary
• Delivers superior customer service to all that utilize the facility while presenting a professional image and attitude
• Assists the Aquatics Coordinator with the annual recruitment, training, scheduling, and certification of all team members
• Oversees the development of daily staffing assignments and ensures that all Department of Labor breaks and meal laws are being enforced
• Oversees pool operations, maintains records of pool chemical levels, adds sanitization agents, and reports chemical levels daily to the Aquatics Coordinator
• Takes charge of First Aid Operations by ensuring that proper documentation is maintained, performs weekly medical supply inventories, and reports all incidents and accidents immediately to the Aquatics Coordinator
• Motivates team members by setting the standard and example which prepares staff to be always test-ready
• Plans, guides, and organizes bi-weekly staff meetings and in-service trainings, and promotes a culture focused on safety
• Conducts departmental safety audits to ensure all regulations and proper procedures are being met
• Maintains current knowledge of departmental programming
• Oversees front gate operations by ensuring that cash handling procedures are accurately maintained on the point of sales system
• Compiles daily inventory forms and submits them weekly to the Aquatics Coordinator
• Performs attendance audits throughout the day
• Drafts daily operational reports to be submitted to leadership team

• 18 years of age or older
• Must have good interpersonal relationship skills
• Must be self-motivated and be able to work as part of a team
• Good organizational skills, creative, outgoing, detail-oriented, and professional
• Ability and willingness to assume responsibility for work performed

• Previous experience in exercising judgment, tact, and diplomacy in dealing with the public
• Previous experience as an American Red Cross, Ellis and Associates, or Star Guard Elite Lifeguard or Instructor
• Previous management or supervisory experience in the Aquatics Industry
• Previous experience in recreational programming
• Previous experience in pool maintenance practices
• Provided free by the City of Yukon Parks and Recreations Department
  • American Red Cross Lifeguarding and Administering Emergency Oxygen Certification
  • Certified Pool Operator Certification

• Be in good physical condition
• Have the ability to run, swim, paddle, and walk long distances
• Be able to stand and sit for extended periods
• Climb, balance, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, crawl, and reach with hands and arms
• Talk and hear both in person from close and long distances and by phone
• Use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate lifesaving equipment
• Regularly lifts, pushes, or pulls persons or equipment over 100 pounds as a team
• Specific vision requirements of this job include close vision, distance vision, use of both eyes, ability to distinguish basic colors and shapes; depth perception, peripheral vision, and have the ability to adjust focus
• Vision must be corrected or uncorrected to at least 20/25
• Employee will regularly work under outdoor weather conditions and will routinely be exposed to the sun, and may be exposed to extreme heat
• Occasionally work on uneven and/or slippery surfaces
