Duties
As part of our Assets team in Haines Junction you will support the maintenance and repair of all built and rolling assets in the park. Tasks include routine maintenance, troubleshooting, building operating system repairs, groundskeeping, water hauling, supply runs to Whitehorse, inspections, equipment repair, fleet management, and occasional back‑country travel via truck, ATV, boat, or helicopter, possibly with overnight stays. You may also support or supervise the trail maintenance team.

- Obtain and maintain a Reliability Status security clearance.
- Possess a valid Yukon class 5 Driver’s Licence or equivalent.
- Wear a Parks Canada uniform and prescribed protective equipment.
- Compliance with the agency’s zero‑tolerance policy and fit‑for‑duty reporting.
- Pass pre‑placement and periodic medical checks (including pre‑employment medical exams for isolated areas).
- Perform strenuous physical activity, heavy lifting, and working in cramped/awkward positions.
- Complete safety courses and training as required (First Aid, Fall Arrest, WHMIS, CLC, etc.).
- Use appropriate safety and protective equipment at all times.
- Work irregular hours, overtime, weekends, statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays as required.
- Travel in varied terrain, weather conditions, isolated locations and by various means of transportation.
- Operate safely in a wilderness backcountry environment for extended periods.
- Hike long distances, including multi‑day hikes.
- Operate off‑road and off‑path with limited communication and emergency response capacity under cold, hot, rain, insect, weed, or uneven terrain conditions.
Your application must clearly explain how you meet the following
Education- Successful completion of secondary school, or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
- Experience in the safe and appropriate use and maintenance of power and hand tools.
- Experience in the operation and basic preventative maintenance of vehicles and equipment such as small loaders, lawn tractors, and utility vehicles.
- Experience operating trucks with trailers, ATVs and/or skid‑steer.
