JOB TITLE:
Yukon Alternative Learning CLASSROOM AIDE
JOB SUMMARY:
This person will work with at-risk, high school students. Experience working with youth who are at-risk is a plus. Technology skills are important as the primary mode for delivering instruction is online.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Performs general classroom and clerical functions (e.g. scheduling, copying, google doc data entry, filing, phone management, etc.) for the purpose of supporting classroom operations on an as needed basis
* Ability to effectively interact with at-risk students, maintain confidentiality, show compassion, build relationships, maintain control, and provide support to students, families, and staff.
* Dependable attendance is an absolute priority.
* Assists the classroom teacher in tutoring students, maintaining materials, grading papers, filing, copying, and any other assistance as needed.
* Maintains familiarity with general information relevant to YALE.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:
* Provides assistance with special projects to include bulk mailings, data gathering, building and/or room set-up, copying, collating, and organizing data for sharing.
* Assists principal with reports, supply orders, forms, interview scheduling, etc.
EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
* High School Diploma, or equivalent
* Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: ability to use office software and office equipment, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Google, school-related software, copiers, and fax machines; proficient with English grammar, punctuation, spelling, and vocabulary.
* Will be required to successfully obtain a Paraprofessional certification through the State Department of Education.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
* Some stooping, kneeling, crouching; generally the job requires 40% sitting, 20% walking, and 40% standing.
* May experience constant interruptions, inflexible deadlines, and changes to normal routines.
* Required to work with all age groups of students, most of which are considered at-risk and require a balance of empathy and high expectations.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
* 142 day contract (1.03 ratio)
* 30 hour week
* Hours:
Mon-Thurs. 7:15am-3:15pm (30 minute lunch)
