Your Impact: As an Events & Visitor Services Associate, you will work to further the mission of The Trustees and preserve our special places by providing superior customer service during daily visits, programs, and events. We seek a personable, confident professional who enjoys working with people.
The Role: You will work throughout de Cordova Sculpture Park & Museum, including at the visitor station, front desk, and during public and private events. You may assist with security, cross-department support, and special events as needed.
Specifically, you’ll:
Visitor Station
- Efficiently facilitate initial admissions sales or check-in.
- Provide information to orient visitors and set expectations for their visit (e.g., directions, daily offerings, special notices, deliveries, appointments).
- Support public and private events as needed based on information provided.
Front Desk
- Welcome visitors and provide guidance on museum/exhibition layouts and family activities.
- Share available programming and tours; facilitate group admissions and membership purchases.
- Manage external calls, forward to appropriate staff, address visitor questions, and provide internal support to de Cordova and Trustees’ staff.
Security
- Oversee guest interactions with exhibitions; greet guests entering the museum building.
- Ensure museum policies are followed and address issues respectfully.
- Assist with tours, events, and deliveries as needed.
Events
- Review Event Orders and plan for event needs; place event signage and related stanchions; greet and direct vendors.
- Provide occasional setup support and maintain security, cleanliness, and customer service standards during events.
- Assist with various tasks to ensure smooth events as directed by the event manager.
This is a part-time, limited term, nonexempt position, 25 hours per week, reporting to the Visitor Services & Security Manager.
What You’ll NeedSkills and Experience:
- Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- 1+ year of experience with events and facilitating operations; public-facing customer service is preferred.
- Flexible schedule including nights and weekends; some events may end late (11pm or later).
- Experience with AV systems is preferred.
- Good judgment, time management, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to respond to escalated situations calmly and solve problems under pressure.
- Excellent external and internal customer service skills.
- Experience in catering or facilities management is preferred.
- Personable and patient, with attention to detail and the ability to work independently following policies and directions.
Physical Requirements:
- Standing, walking, reaching, and bending for more than 80% of the day.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Must be able to drive a golf cart.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Current authorization to work in the United States by the first day of employment.
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record as outlined in The Trustees’ policy.
- satisfactory criminal background (CORI) check.
