Position Summary

The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for overseeing the clinical operations of the nursing department to ensure high-quality care and manage a team of dedicated nurses and healthcare staff while driving excellence in clinical performance, patient outcomes, and staff engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the nursing department in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local standards and guidelines.
  • Ensure the highest level of care and clinical outcomes for residents/patients.
  • Develop, implement and monitor nursing policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Recruit, train, and evaluate nursing staff; foster a positive and professional working environment.
  • Monitor staffing levels and scheduling to ensure adequate coverage and quality of care.
  • Participate in budget development and monitor department expenditures.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members and families to support holistic care planning.
  • Serve as a resource and mentor to nursing staff, promoting professional development.
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation and reporting of clinical activities.
  • Prepare for and participate in regulatory surveys and audits.
Qualifications
  • Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California.
  • Minimum 3 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year of leadership role.
  • Knowledge of nursing practices, state/federal regulations, and accreditation standards.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to lead teams through change and quality improvement initiatives.
