General Purpose

The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership team responsible for a specific, assigned area of the Store and for general operations when serving as Manager on Duty. Duties include opening/closing the store, supervising associates, maintaining a friendly and organized shopping environment, and executing company operational processes as needed.

Essential Functions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
  • Safety is the number one priority; practices safe behaviors in all activities.
  • Maintains awareness on the sales floor and reports unsafe conditions or practices to Store Leadership.
  • Secures building entry/exit control and ensures daily function of EAS devices, cash office, and armored carrier pick‑ups.
  • Removes clutter, ensures safe egress to emergency exits, and supports customer safety during accident prevention, reporting, and emergency procedures.
  • Tests fire alarm systems as scheduled and responds to after‑hours alarms when required.
Customer Service
  • Treats customers, associates, and other leaders with respect.
  • Demonstrates courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism; recognizes associates using company recognition programs.
Personal and Store Brand
  • Represents and supports the company brand at all times.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and ensures all associates adhere to the dress code.
  • Keeps all store areas clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard; responsible for daily trash removal.
General Merchandising
  • Ensures recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet company standards through teaching, assigning tasks, and following up.
  • Receives merchandise trucks and non‑merchandise inbound deliveries.
  • Processes all merchandise with urgency and organizes all stockrooms.
  • Helps deliver and place merchandise on the sales floor; secures and processes back‑stock.
  • Maintains compliance with monthly presentation guidelines and manages floor moves and promotional signing.
Loss Prevention
  • Complies with the Loss Prevention Awareness Program and maintains a strong customer service presence.
  • Safeguards confidential information, cash, credit card data, and merchandise.
  • Maintains the public view monitor, performs code package inspections, and executes company best practices to minimize steps.
Front End Supervision and Operations
  • Ensures associates perform front end procedures to company standards.
  • Maintains pace and presence at the front end, trains associates on cash registers, shortage control, and other front end procedures.
  • Controls associates’ break schedules and ensures all front end equipment and supplies are functioning and available.
  • Ensures go‑backs are expedited, scanned, tagged, and ticketed.
Fitting Rooms
  • Maintains cleanliness and audits garment tags in fitting rooms.
  • Ensures go‑back compliance throughout the day.
Administrative Duties
  • Manages cash pulls, bank deposits, front end controls, payroll administration, and other responsibilities as assigned by the Store Manager.
Competencies
  • Manages work processes, business acumen, planning, talent development, collaboration, leading by example, effective communication, and accountability.
Qualifications and Special Skills
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with point‑of‑sale equipment and applications.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements /ADA
  • Use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs.
  • Spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
