General PurposeThe Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our customers have a positive shopping experience. The associate greets all customers with eye contact, a smile, and a courteous greeting, treats fellow associates with respect, follows all company best‑practice standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The associate is expected to perform a range of functions in all areas of the store as business needs require and may be requested to perform additional tasks in specific situations.
EssentialFunctions
- Practice safe behaviors and maintain a safe and secure shopping environment for everyone.
- Keep the sales floor clutter‑free with clear egress to emergency exits.
- Treat all customers and associates with respect and courtesy; be friendly and professional at all times.
- Assist customers at the register, answer questions, and provide prompt, efficient responses.
- Represent and support the company brand at all times.
- Perform cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, and replenishing restroom supplies.
- Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the company dress code.
- Perform daily assigned sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and merchandised to standards.
- Expedite newly received merchandise receipt to the sales floor with a sense of urgency.
- Understand loss prevention awareness, the Shortage Highway, and merchandise protection standards.
- Demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions, safeguarding confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
- Follow all policies concerning cash, check, charge card, and refund transactions, handling bankable tenders accurately.

- Effectively communicate with customers, associates, and store leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative manner.
- Perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
- Use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PC as required.
- Stand, walk, and move around the store for up to 100% of the working time.
- Regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds.
- Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
- Certain assignments may require other qualifications and skills.
- For stockroom shifts, push, pull, and lift more than 20 pounds regularly.
