The Yuba Community College District is seeking qualified candidates for this part‑time, temporary (Adjunct) faculty position. Applicants are contacted and hired year‑round based on college needs. This pool is open continuously and refreshed every two years.
Applicants in this pool will remain active for two years. After two years applicants will receive an email with information on how to remain in the pool.

- Foreign Transcripts:
Include a U.S. evaluation and translation. for a list of acceptable agencies providing foreign transcript services. - Note that the District retains the right to extend time limits or initiate the recruitment/selection process anew at any stage.
- Education Code §87408.6 requires all applicants to have submitted to a tuberculosis examination within the past 60 days.
- Fingerprint clearance is required before the employee’s first day. Applicants must provide fingerprints to the local police department; fees charged by DOJ and FBI are the employee’s responsibility.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The person selected will be expected to:
- Organize and teach any courses offered in the English program.
- Prepare complete course syllabi and outlines.
- Work with the English Department to develop and maintain a relevant community college curriculum, and assist in facilitating appropriate transfer/articulation agreements with four‑year colleges and universities.
- Facilitate student learning by designing varied learning environments, including laboratory, distance learning (interactive television, online), and accelerated courses.
- Teach courses as assigned to meet student needs, which may include day, evening, and weekend classes.
- Work with staff in related academic support programs.
- Be committed to, and participate in, the shared‑governance process.
REQUIRED DUTIES: Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Required QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must possess the minimum qualifications for instructors in English at California Community Colleges:
- Master’s Degree in English, literature, comparative literature, or composition OR
- Bachelor’s in any of the above AND Master’s in linguistics, TESL, speech, education with a specialization in reading, creative writing, or journalism OR
- Possess a California Community College life credential in the subject matter area of English OR the equivalent.
- EQUIVALENCY REQUIREMENT: All applicants must meet the minimum qualifications specified by the Yuban Community College District by the application filing date, or have obtained an equivalency determination from the District before the publication of the Recruitment Announcement. Please for equivalency application.
- Previous teaching, employment, or student experiences that provide the candidate with the ability to successfully teach composition, grammar, reading, critical thinking, or literature courses.
- Background in the use of technology in the classroom/laboratory setting.
- Previous teaching experience utilizing distributive education (interactive television, online, etc.).
- Experience working with a Writing Center.
Range/Step Class I - VII (Based on degree and teaching experience).
