Part Time - Art History Instructor

The Yuba Community College District is seeking qualified candidates for this part-time, temporary (Adjunct) faculty position. Part-time instructor positions are filled as needed through ongoing recruitment. Applicants are contacted and hired year-round based on college needs. This pool is open continuously and refreshed every two years. Applicants in this pool will remain active for two years; after two years applicants will receive an email with information on how to remain in the pool.

Job Title: Part Time - Art History Instructor

Location: Lake County Campus - Clear Lake, CA

Job Description

BASIC FUNCTION: Develop and deliver instructional lectures for Art courses up to 10 hours/week. Organize and teach all levels of Art classes. Use appropriate teaching methods to facilitate student learning. Teach day, evening, and/or weekend teaching assignments, which may include distance learning (interactive television, online) and accelerated courses. Assess Student Learning Outcomes every semester. Participate in department, division, and college-wide initiatives and committees if desired.

  • Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Required Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s in art history, history of art and architecture, or visual culture/visual studies.
  • Bachelor’s in art history & Master’s in history.
  • Master’s in art with a recorded emphasis or concentration in art history.
  • Equivalent qualifications recognized by the Yuba Community College District.
Desired/Preferred Qualifications

Experience: Preference may be given to candidates with lived experience or teaching experience that demonstrates the clear ability to teach Art History to community college students.

Physical Demands

Range/Step class I - VII based on degree and teaching experience.

Salary Range

Part-time positions less than .60 FTE are not entitled to any District paid fringe benefits.

  • Fingerprint clearance must be received prior to the employee’s first day on the job.
