Position Information
The Yuba Community College District is seeking qualified candidates for this part‑time, temporary (Adjunct) faculty position. Part‑time instructor positions are filled as needed. Applicants will remain active in the pool for two years; after two years applicants will receive an email with information on how to remain in the pool.
Job Title: Part‑time – General Counselor
Responsibilities- Provide general counseling services in support of the College’s recruitment and retention efforts.
- Offer personal, career, and educational counseling to students, including orientation sessions, classroom presentations, workshops, and assessment interpretation.
- Participate in outreach activities, evening assignments, and liaison duties with academic departments.
- Contribute to curriculum development, assessment of student learning outcomes, and professional activities such as committee work.
- Utilize intervention strategies with academically challenged students.
- Perform electronic processes using Curricunet, Tracdat, Degree‑Audit, and similar systems.
- Assist students in developing academic plans, career goals, and personal development skills.
- Provide crisis intervention and emergency counseling when required.
- Master’s degree in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy, or a comparable field.
- Or the equivalent: all applicants must meet the minimum qualifications specified by the Yuba Community College District by the application filing date. Alternatively, applicants must have obtained an equivalency determination from the District before the publication of the Recruitment Announcement.
- Possess a California Community College life credential in the subject matter area of Counseling.
- A license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) is an alternative qualification for this discipline, pursuant to title 5, section 53410.1.
- Preference may be given to candidates with life or teaching experience that demonstrates the clear ability to provide general counseling services to community college students.
Part‑time (less than 0.60 FTE) – positions are not entitled to any District paid fringe benefits.
