Position Details

  • Full-time schedule, Sunday starting at 1:00pm and Monday-Thursday starting at 2:00pm.
  • Pay starts at $18 an hour plus opportunity for premium pay.
Position Purpose

The Yard Driver is responsible for moving tractor trailers to/from the loading docks and parking loaded or empty trailers in designated areas in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). Communicates and interacts with customers, vendors and co-workers professionally ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and perform any duty assigned to best serve the company.

Responsibilities
  • Performs inspections and moves trailers safely following all DOT regulations and company safe-driving policies.
  • Fuels, moves, and parks tractors and trailers to the docks.
  • Tractor trailers will be moved around the facility, no city driving.
  • Secures trucks, trailers, and equipment always.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Able to back up to the dock.
  • Ability to back up within tight spaces on the yard.
  • Be safe and vigilant while working on the yard.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent.
  • 6+ months of Yard Hostler/Switching experience.
  • Internal candidates may be promoted with less than 6 months experience with good performance record in accordance with driver training program requirements.
  • Must be able to work the scheduled, assigned times and required overtime for the position.
  • Valid driver's license (no CDL required).
  • Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable).
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years.
  • Pass road test.
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift; product generally ranges from between 10-35 pounds and up to between approximately 60 and 90 pounds, depending on the location.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ years of Yard Hostler/Switching experience required.
  • Have a valid Class A license.
  • Onboard computer and electronic log system experience (i.e., People Net).
