POSITION
DESCRIPTION:
The Radiology Assistant provides basic support to the radiology department by assisting with patient preparation, transporting patients and ensuring that imaging areas remain clean and well-stocked.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Greets and courteously escorts patient from the lobby or Urgent Care examination room to the x-ray room.
- Verifies patient identity according to policies and procedures.
- Assists in preparing patients for radiology procedures by helping patient in getting dressed appropriately for the exam (gown, shorts, removing jewelry, etc.) and explaining basic instructions.
- Transports patients to and from the imaging area using wheelchairs or stretchers as needed.
- Performs post-procedural duties including patient discharge and room clean up; cleans room between patients and restocks radiology-related supplies; assists with inventory control.
- Completes paper work while the radiology staff is imaging patients.
- Supports the Urgent Care team as needed (rooming patients, taking vitals, etc.).
- Follows all safety, infection control and radiation protection protocols.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Maintains general knowledge of Trinity Health Medical Group office services and in the use of all relevant office equipment, computer and manual systems.
- Maintains strict confidentiality in compliance with Trinity Health Medical Group and HIPAA guidelines.
- Serves as a role model by demonstrating exceptional ability and willingness to take on new and additional responsibilities. Embraces new ideas and respects cultural differences.
- Uses resources efficiently.

Performance that meets or exceeds IHA CARES Values expectation as outlined in IHA Performance Review document, relative to position.

EDUCATION:
High School Diploma, GED or between the ages of 15-17 with a valid work permit from their high school. Clinical Support Assistant (CSA) training to be provided following hire.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS (ABILITIES & SKILLS):
- Proficiency in operating a standard desktop and Windows-based computer system, including but not limited to, electronic medical records, email, e-learning, intranet and computer navigation. Ability to use other software as required while performing the essential functions of the job.
- Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal forms, including proper phone etiquette.
- Knowledge of patient care procedures and organizational policies related to position responsibilities.
- Ability to prioritize, be well organized, and perform multiple tasks
- Ability to effectively interact with others and work effectively as a team member.
- Ability to solve problems as required by position, including application of critical thinking skills (for example to be able to determine if patient issues require immediate provider attention).
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment; displays courteous and friendly demeanor.
- Ability to work effectively with various levels of organizational members and diverse populations including IHA staff, providers, patients, vendors, family members, outside customers and community groups.
- Ability to cross-train in other areas of practice in order to achieve smooth flow of all operations.
- Knowledge of the compliance aspects of clinical care and patient privacy and best practices in medical office operations.
