Machinist

Overview

Youngsville, LA: Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a Machinist to support manufacturing operations by setting up and operating manual machining equipment to produce metallic and non-metallic parts in accordance with specifications and quality standards. This position requires flexibility in work hours, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality.

• Review blueprints, drawings, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, machining sequence, and setup requirements
• Measure, mark, and indicate dimensions and reference points on materials for machining
• Select, align, and secure fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials on mills, lathes, and grinders
• Calculate and set machine controls including speed, feed rate, coolant flow, depth, and angle of cut
• Operate machines and monitor performance to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions; make necessary adjustments
• Inspect finished and in-process parts to verify conformance with specifications
• Communicate with supervisors and production personnel to resolve machining or assembly issues
• Perform daily machine maintenance and report equipment issues as needed
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
• Perform dimensional inspections on in-process parts

• Manual dexterity and strong attention to detail
• Basic to intermediate mathematical skills
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
• Respect for and adherence to safety standards and procedures
• Ability to work extended hours, early mornings, and occasional weekends as required
• Willingness to work overtime as needed

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
• Frequent use of hands for handling, feeling, and operating tools
• Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach with hands and arms
• Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
• Work environment may include exposure to wet or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Vocational training preferred
• At least 2 years of machining experience preferred; less experience will be considered for the right candidate
