As a SPED Teacher's Aide, you will be responsible for assisting a SPED classroom teacher in the general supervision and management of the students, allowing teachers more time to focus on educational needs.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in implementing the daily program under the SPED teacher’s direction.
  • Assist in planning and preparing the learning environment, setting up interest centers, and preparing needed materials for daily activities.
  • Work individually or in small groups with students to review instruction, reading groups, and answer questions.
  • Supervise outside playground activities and other student supervision during lunch, dismissal, and field trips.
  • Help with general housekeeping tasks and operate instructional equipment.
  • Perform clerical tasks and maintain confidentiality about students, families, and staff.
  • Attend staff meetings, recommended training programs, and conferences.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or supervisor.
  • Follow directions given by head SPED teacher or immediate supervisor.
Requirements
  • High School degree, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Speak,, and write English fluently.
  • Successful results of criminal and employment background checks.
  • Experience working with children, preferably those with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Student Information System (SIS), and email communications.
  • li>Strong time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, students, parents, and staff.
  • Commitment to company values and adherence to the Code of Ethics for the Education Profession.
  • Be in the process of becoming professionally prepared to supervise young children.
  • Ability to work in a noisy, high-traffic school environment and perform physical tasks of up to 20 pounds occasionally.
  • May perform other duties assigned.

  • May be noisy during high student traffic.
Physical Demands
  • No physical exertion required.
  • Somewhat stressful due to frequent student activity.
  • Light work:
    Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.
