Athletic Trainer / Fitness Instructor
Overview
Assists in coaching, recruiting, counseling, conditioning, and evaluating for the soccer team as directed. Responsible for instructing student-athletes in how to perform their sport which may also include teaching courses related to competition in varsity athletic programs.
Responsibilities- Implements coaching strategies and teaching methods to develop student athletes' skills and teamwork; analyzes performance of team and adjust strategies as needed; evaluates opponents and develops game strategies; plans and conducts practices and other activities in preparation for competition; manages camps and clinics, if applicable.
- Assists with the development of the team budget; analyzes historical expenditure fixtures; compiles projections for budget expenditures for various aspects of team operations; authorizes the expenditures of funds for team operations; monitors expenditures to ensure that they adhere to proscribed limitations; ensures that all expenditures are properly documented and in compliance with university and NCAA regulations; prepares expenditure reports as directed.
- Conducts promotional activities for fundraising, recruitment, public relations, and other marketing activities; attend promotional events, community activities, and fundraisers; prepares promotional materials for distribution; prepares and delivers speeches and presentations at local community groups, fundraisers, athlete events, etc. Coordinates community outreach opportunities for team participation.
- Assists with the administration of policies and procedures with respect to academic expectations for team members; communicates with academic advising staff regarding athletic academic performance; meets with athletes to review course load issues, degree requirements, course selections, etc.; counsel's athletes on performance issues, study skills, and techniques for academic success.
- Identifies and develops team strategy for recruitment; analyzes team needs to focus recruitment efforts; creates promotional strategy for contacting and recruiting prospective student athletes; develops promotional correspondence and materials for distribution to prospective recruits; conducts recruiting trips and activities in accordance with developed recruitment strategy; formulates recommendations concerning the award of athletic aid to targeted recruits.
- Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
- Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions.
- Other Functions and Responsibilities:
Manages equipment inventory and related duties as directed. - Drives passenger vans as required.
- Assists with training new hires.
- Performs other duties as assigned and/or required that are within the level of responsibility for this classification at the discretion of the supervisor.

Work ScheduleTravel and non-traditional hours required.
Supervision ExercisedMay exercise supervision over student employees.
Reports to: Head Coach, Soccer
Required Certifications, Training, and/or LicensuresCertification in CPR/AED upon hire; annual proficiency in NCAA Certification to Recruit upon hire; and valid driver's license.
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of: NCAA rules and regulations;

English grammar and spelling; records management.
Skill in:

Minimum Qualifications- Atleast a bachelor's degree; one or more years of collegiate soccer coaching, playing or graduate assistant experience; and valid driver's license.
- Master's degree. Experience playing or coaching at the Division I or the Division II levels.
