Position Description

Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Senior Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Youngstown, Ohio.

• Hourly Pay: $29.50 per hour
• Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification, up to $700
• Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter
• Sign‑On Bonus: $2,500 at 30 days and $2,500 at 90 days
• Schedule:
  
  Monday–Friday, weekends off
• Hours:
  
  Second Shift 12:30 pm – 9:00 pm

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• Vocational or technical certification or post‑secondary degree (preferred)
• Basic tools required
• Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gasoline or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
• Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems (required)
• Three years or more relevant experience (preferred)
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
• All other certifications required by location (required)
• Minimum of two years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑ and medium‑duty equipment
• PC and Windows computer skills (required)
• Ability and willingness to drive Ryder vehicles; must obtain CDL within six months of hire
• Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and background check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard and preventive maintenance and complex mechanical and electronic troubleshooting using diagnostic computers
• Complete detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
• Replace defective components as instructed
• Work unsupervised on most tasks
• Perform facility maintenance duties
• Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint when assigned a task
• Utilize key functions of shop management system and electronic documentation
• Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
• Mentor Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
• Access and use internal and external maintenance documents
• Perform other support duties as required, including but not limited to service island support
• Obtain SBTIII training within 180 days
• Complete two OEM on‑line diagnostic scan tool software courses required by fleet mix within 365 days
