Position Description
Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Senior Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Youngstown, Ohio.
Compensation & Benefits- Hourly Pay: $29.50 per hour
- Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification, up to $700
- Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter
- Sign‑On Bonus: $2,500 at 30 days and $2,500 at 90 days
- Schedule:
Monday–Friday, weekends off - Hours:
Second Shift 12:30 pm – 9:00 pm - Annual Merit Pay Increases

Requirements- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Vocational or technical certification or post‑secondary degree (preferred)
- Basic tools required
- Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gasoline or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
- Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems (required)
- Three years or more relevant experience (preferred)
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
- All other certifications required by location (required)
- Minimum of two years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑ and medium‑duty equipment
- PC and Windows computer skills (required)
- Ability and willingness to drive Ryder vehicles; must obtain CDL within six months of hire
- Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and background check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years
- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard and preventive maintenance and complex mechanical and electronic troubleshooting using diagnostic computers
- Complete detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
- Replace defective components as instructed
- Work unsupervised on most tasks
- Perform facility maintenance duties
- Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint when assigned a task
- Utilize key functions of shop management system and electronic documentation
- Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
- Mentor Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
- Access and use internal and external maintenance documents
- Perform other support duties as required, including but not limited to service island support
- Obtain SBTIII training within 180 days
- Complete two OEM on‑line diagnostic scan tool software courses required by fleet mix within 365 days
