Chico’s FAS, Inc. operates approximately 1,300 boutiques/outlets with an online presence for its brands, employing nearly 16,000 associates.
The Assistant Store Manager is primarily responsible for supporting the store manager in managing the sales, operations, asset protection, and human resources functions of the store to ensure a great customer experience and maximum profitability.
Responsibilities- Prepares weekly schedules to ensure proper floor coverage within fiscal guidelines; reviews time sheets and payroll documentation for accuracy and submits as appropriate.
- Promotes customer service by ensuring associates greet and assist customers; responds to inquiries and complaints in a professional and timely manner.
- Supervises associates engaged in sales, inventory receipt, reconciling cash receipts, or in performing services for customers.
- Models sales techniques and product knowledge; recommends merchandise selections or helps to locate or obtain merchandise based on customer needs and desires.
- Maintains a visually appealing store, ensuring proper housekeeping, visual merchandising, and organization to the highest standard.
- Trains associates on visual merchandising techniques to ensure store is always maintained.
- Monitors associate sales activities and productivity; provides feedback and motivates and trains associates to achieve full potential.
- Performs all financial activities including cash handling and reporting, price changes, and merchandise handling; ensures all register transactions are completed accurately and in accordance with policy.
- Administers operational processes including inventory receipt/dispatch, daily replenishment of floor merchandise, and physical inventories.
- Facilitates and/or manages general store operations to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Supports compliance with applicable laws, loss prevention policies, operating procedures and controls; conducts associate training to reinforce proper controls.
- Assists in recruiting, hiring, and development of store associates; interprets KPI reports and delivers coaching; provides feedback for performance appraisals.
- Other duties as assigned/required.
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Must be 18 years old or older
- Minimum 3 years prior retail or sales management experience preferred
- Excellent communication, verbal and written skills
- Able to travel to stores throughout the district
- Excellent customer service skills
- Knowledge of administrative aspects of store operations
- Ability to communicate with customers, stand and maneuver on sales floor and stockroom, operate register, lift and carry 50 pounds, hand/fold merchandise, climb, reach, pushing/pulling
- Regular attendance is essential to this position
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
The wage range for this position is $14.70 to $18.40 per hour. Wage rates are determined based on individual qualifications.
