Stepdown RN - Youngstown, OH

This opportunity is ideal for a registered nurse with strong stepdown and ventilator management experience seeking a contract role in a challenging critical care environment. You will provide exceptional nursing care to a high-acuity patient population in a 28-bed stepdown unit that manages complex cases such as respiratory, renal, surgical, and trauma patients. This role is night shift, 12-hour hours, and requires proficiency with ventilators, tracheostomies, various drips, and advanced cardiac and stroke certifications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive assessments and implement individualized plans of care for ICU stepdown patients
• Administer medications safely including Cardizem, Amiodarone, and insulin drips; manage patients on ventilation and multiple respiratory support devices
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams to coordinate patient care and advocate for patient and family needs
• Utilize clinical judgment to prioritize care for multi-system organ failure and trauma patients
• Maintain clinical competencies through evidence-based practices and continuous education
• Support unit operations, including charge nurse duties and float assignments to similar acuity units if needed

Qualifications &

Experience:

• Current RN license in good standing; compact state licensure accepted
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience; strong preference for critical/stepdown care experience
• Ventilator experience is required; familiarity with pumps and respiratory modalities essential
• Certifications:
  
  BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Certification (required); CCRN or PCCN preferred
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred but not required
