American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Intermediate Telemetry Stepdown Unit (4S) requiring active OH or compact RN license, BLS and ACLS, and the ability to interpret and sign telemetry strips.
Details- 17-bed Intermediate Telemetry Stepdown Unit (4S) in a hospital setting
- Primarily cardiac patients including afib, CHF, pre/post cath, and open heart waiters; also respiratory/COVID, renal, stroke/TIA, post-op, and ICU step-down transfers
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Telemetry monitoring via waveform monitors on patient teleboxes, a tele bank at the nurses' station, and tele techs at central monitoring — RNs remain responsible for interpreting and signing strips
- Oxygen modalities include Airvo, continuous BiPAP, and high-flow; no vents or trachs
- Drips managed include heparin, cardizem, amiodarone, nitroglycerin (titrated), insulin, and HF drips; also manages multiple drains, central lines, chest tubes, and wound vacs
- PCA support is regularly scheduled (3 per day shift, 2 per night shift); if PCAs are pulled to sit, the RN assumes full care
- Day charge RN typically carries no assignment or 1–2 patients; night charge RN carries a full assignment
- Phlebotomy is available for lab draws
- Epic EHR used; experience preferred
- Active OH or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Ability to interpret and sign telemetry strips required
- Proof of address required for consideration (acceptable documents: driver's license, voter registration card, federal income tax return, Military Form 2058, or W-2 from U.S. government)
- Full SSN and DOB (MM/DD) required for consideration
- 1 supervisory reference required for consideration
- Copy of certifications required for consideration
- Conducts initial and ongoing patient assessments, develops and implements care plans, and evaluates treatment effectiveness
- Serves as the primary point of contact for care coordination across hospital departments and with family members or caregivers
- Clinically manages patients with multi-system organ failure and/or multisystem trauma using evidence-based, patient-focused clinical judgment
- Pass/fail EKG test administered on the first day with two attempts allowed; a study guide will be provided
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel pay rate
