Job Details
• Work in a 28-bed PCU/Stepdown Unit (4SE) in a hospital setting,
• Exclusively an ICU stepdown unit - the only unit outside of the ICU that manages patients on vents and trachs,
• High-acuity patient population including respiratory, renal, surgical, and trauma cases,
• Manages patients on drips including Cardizem and Amiodarone (no pressors),
• Airway management includes ventilators, trachs, BiPAP, CPAP, high-flow oxygen, and Airvo,
• Manages insulin drips and multi-system organ failure/multisystem trauma patients,
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:4-5,
• CNA support on the unit varies by shift; charge nurse may take a patient assignment on nights,
• 12-hour night shifts,
• Floating required to like or lower acuity units including other PCU, SDU, and IMC units,
• Epic EHR used (training preferred),
Job Requirements
• Active OH RN license or valid Compact RN license currently in hand,
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required,
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required,
• Strong higher-acuity experience required - ICU stepdown or comparable setting strongly preferred,
• Ventilator experience required,
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position,
• Proof of address required for consideration (acceptable documents:
Driver's License, Voter Registration Card, Federal Tax Return, Military Form 2058, or W2 from U.S. government),
• 1 supervisory reference required for consideration,
• Full SSN and DOB (MM/DD) required for consideration,
Additional Information
• Conducts initial and ongoing patient assessments, develops and implements individualized care plans, and evaluates treatment effectiveness,
• Serves as the primary point of contact for care coordination across hospital departments and with family members or caregivers,
• Clinically manages patients with multi-system organ failure and/or multisystem trauma using evidence-based, patient-focused clinical judgment,
• Advocates for patient safety and participates in ongoing quality improvement initiatives,
• Pass/fail EKG (Dysrhythmia) exam required on the first day - two attempts allowed, and a study guide will be provided,
