Travel RN - Telemetry - Progressive Care Unit

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care/Stepdown position requiring an OH or compact RN license and advanced cardiac certifications.

Job Details

• Work in an Intermediate Care/Stepdown Unit (PCU) with 16 beds,

• Patient population includes chest pain, heart cath, TIA, stroke, seizure, intermediate/telemetry cases, and occasional neuro spine post-op,

• Typical nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-5 with high admission and discharge turnover,

• Night shifts with 12-hour shifts required, every other weekend and every other holiday coverage,

• Cardiac drips can be started pending transfer; pre/post cath experience required,

• Care for patients with central lines, wound vacs, hemovacs, JP drains, and feeding tubes; use of intermittent BiPAP, CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula (no trachs),

• May have PCA support depending on staffing,

• No local candidates accepted; must be at least 50 miles from the facility,

• Navy blue scrubs required,

Job Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required,

• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale,

• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required,

• Dysrhythmia (EKG) exam required with two attempts to pass; study guide provided,

• Pre/post cardiac catheterization and telemetry experience required,

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include carrying out assessments, administering medications, and coordinating care with the interdisciplinary team,

• Expected to manage high-acuity and multi-organ system patients,

• Must advocate for patients and family in collaboration with hospital resources,

• Uses Epic EMR; prior experience preferred but not required,

• Required to pass a pass/fail EKG test on the first day,

• Holiday and every other weekend coverage required as scheduled,

• First day testing and ongoing acute patient care training supported,
