Position OverviewGasser Chair is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Material Handler to support the efficient movement of materials throughout our manufacturing operations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring production teams have the right materials at the right time to meet customer demands and production schedules.
The Material Handler will report to the Logistics Manager and work closely with the Shipping Coordinator, Inventory Coordinator, and production teams to maintain inventory accuracy, support workflow efficiency, and ensure safe material handling practices across operations.
This position is ideal for a motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and takes pride in organization, accuracy, and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities- Material Movement:
Safely transport raw materials, components, and finished goods throughout the facility, ensuring accurate delivery to designated production or storage locations. - Receiving & Inspection:
Receive incoming shipments, verify quantities against purchase orders, inspect materials for damage, and report discrepancies as needed. - Inventory Accuracy:
Assist with inventory counts, track material usage, and update material transactions within the ERP system to maintain accurate records. - Production Support:
Stage and replenish materials at workstations based on production schedules to ensure uninterrupted workflow. - Loading & Unloading:
Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently, verifying outgoing shipments for completeness and proper packaging. - Equipment Operation:
Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and in accordance with company policies. - Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of material movements and enter relevant data into the ERP system. - Safety Compliance:
Follow all safety policies and procedures, wear appropriate PPE, and participate in safety training initiatives. - Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities to improve material handling processes and support operational efficiency initiatives. - Collaboration:
Work closely with production, shipping, and inventory teams to communicate material shortages or concerns that may impact production.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in material handling, warehousing, or logistics preferred.
- Forklift certification preferred (or willingness to obtain certification).
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with inventory or ERP systems.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to workplace safety.
This position requires the ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling materials-often in excess of 75 pounds. The role involves standing, walking, and moving throughout the facility for extended periods. Work may take place in warehouse and production environments with varying temperatures. The safe operation of forklifts and other material handling equipment is essential.
