Job Description

Turner & Townsend are seeking a Project Director – Utility & Power Infrastructure to lead all aspects of power infrastructure delivery for a large‑scale data center program in Beaver County, PA. This role is responsible for managing the planning, design, and execution of power connectivity, including coordination with utilities, on‑site generation, and high‑voltage systems. The Project Director will ensure reliable, redundant, and scalable power solutions to support mission‑critical operations, working closely with engineering teams, contractors, and utility providers.

Responsibilities
  • Define and implement the power delivery strategy for the data center program, ensuring alignment with capacity, redundancy, and reliability requirements.
  • Develop and manage project plans for utility interconnections, substations, and on‑site generation systems.
  • Coordinate with regional utilities and energy providers to secure agreements, permits, and timelines for power delivery.
  • Lead design reviews for electrical infrastructure, including medium/high‑voltage systems, switch gear, transformers, and backup power solutions.
  • Ensure constructability and compliance with codes, standards, and utility requirements.
  • Integrate power systems with overall site development and data center design.
  • Manage procurement and installation of electrical equipment and infrastructure.
  • Oversee construction activities related to power connectivity, ensuring safety, quality, and adherence to specifications.
  • Monitor progress and resolve technical issues to maintain schedule certainty.
  • Direct commissioning of electrical systems, including load testing, redundancy validation, and integrated systems testing (IST).
  • Ensure all systems meet design intent and operational performance standards.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with utility companies, energy providers, and regulatory agencies.
  • Communicate progress, risks, and mitigation strategies to senior leadership and project stakeholders.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to power delivery and system reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, regulatory, and safety requirements.
  • Manage and mentor project team members and contractors involved in power infrastructure delivery.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.
Qualifications
  • 12+ years of experience in power infrastructure or electrical project management, preferably in mission‑critical or data center environments.
  • Proven ability to manage large‑scale electrical projects, including utility coordination and high‑voltage systems.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical design, construction, and commissioning processes.
  • Familiarity with utility interconnection agreements, permitting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • Professional certifications such as PE, PMP, or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • Expertise in relevant codes and standards (NFPA, NEC, IEEE, NESC) and safety regulations.
