Description We are looking for a dedicated Accounting Clerk to join our local government team in Youngstown, Ohio. In this contract role, you will play a vital part in supporting tax collection efforts while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to public service in a detail-oriented office environment.

Responsibilities:

- Process and record payments related to tax collections, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

- Handle customer payments through various methods, including cash, checks, and credit/debit transactions.

- Collaborate with team members to maintain efficient workflows and address customer inquiries effectively.

- Perform accurate data entry tasks to update records and maintain organized documentation.

- Assist in general office duties, such as filing, answering calls, and supporting administrative tasks.

- Ensure confidentiality and security of sensitive information.

- Monitor and manage invoices, ensuring timely processing and resolution of discrepancies.

- Utilize accounting software and tools to streamline payment processing and reporting.

- Provide excellent customer service by addressing concerns and offering clear communication.

- Follow local government policies and procedures to uphold detail-oriented standards. Requirements - Previous experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or administrative roles is highly preferred.

- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry tasks.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

- Familiarity with accounting software such as Quick Books is a plus.

- Excellent communication and customer service skills.

- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.

- Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
