Job Responsibilities
- As an OSG, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, security, and well‑being of staff, visitors, and prisoners at HMP Millsike.
- Managing entry and exit procedures for staff, visitors, contractors, and vehicles.
- Providing exceptional customer service to visitors, fostering a welcoming and safe environment.
- Putting visitors at ease and answering questions about any aspect of prison life.
- Supporting visitors and recognising the emotional challenges of having a loved one in prison.
- Conducting regular patrols to maintain external security.
- Performing searches and confiscating forbidden items in line with policies.
- Escorting visitors and prisoners to ensure safety and security.
- Handling mail and maintaining logs to report contraband items.
- Supervising prisoner activities, including clothing and property exchanges.
- Operating the establishment's radio system and monitoring CCTV.
- Monitoring the prisoners' PIN Phone system and maintaining logs.
- Ensuring compliance with safeguarding procedures and seeking advice when needed.
- Performing administrative tasks to ensure accurate data maintenance.
- Basic to intermediate IT skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Excellent communication skills.
- Motivated, hardworking and willing to learn.
