Job Responsibilities
- Play a vital role in ensuring the safety, security and well‑being of staff, visitors and prisoners at HMP Millsike.
- Manage entry and exit procedures for staff, visitors, contractors and vehicles.
- Provide exceptional customer service to visitors, fostering a welcoming and safe environment.
- Put visitors at ease and answer questions about any aspect of prison life.
- Support visitors and understand that having a loved one in prison can be distressing, anxiety‑provoking, difficult for families and friends of prisoners.
- Conduct regular patrols to maintain external security.
- Perform searches and confiscate forbidden items in line with policies.
- Escort visitors and prisoners to ensure safety and security.
- Handle mail and maintain logs to report contraband items.
- Supervise prisoner activities, including clothing and property exchanges.
- Operate the establishment's radio system and monitor CCTV.
- Monitor the prisoners' PIN phone system and maintain logs.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding procedures and seek advice when needed.
- Perform administrative tasks to ensure accurate data maintenance.

- Basic to intermediate IT skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook).
