Position Summary
The CAD Operator supports the civil construction team by preparing accurate, detailed drawings and plans used for grading, utilities, roadwork, and site development projects. This role translates survey data, design notes, and project specifications into professional construction drawings that meet company and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities- Draft and revise civil site plans, grading layouts, utility profiles, and as-built drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Convert survey field data into clear, accurate base maps and design plans.
- Prepare cut/fill maps, cross sections, and digital terrain models for construction use.
- Assist project managers and engineers in developing plan sets for permitting and construction.
- Verify and maintain drawing accuracy, consistency, and compliance with project standards.
- Manage drawing files, layers, and revisions in an organized digital filing system.
- Coordinate with survey crews, project managers, and superintendents to ensure field accuracy.
- Update as-built drawings based on field markups and redlines.
- Support takeoffs, layout planning, and construction documentation as needed.
- High school diploma or GED required; associate’s degree or technical certification in CAD, drafting, or civil technology preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience drafting for civil construction, sitework, or surveying projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D required.
- Understanding of civil design, grading, utilities, and storm drainage systems.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to read and interpret survey data, plans, and construction drawings.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Experience with Bluebeam and Agtek or other survey software.
- Familiarity with local and state permitting standards.
- Knowledge of GPS and machine control file preparation.
