THE POSITION

The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) is seeking a dedicated and skilled Maintenance Repairman 1 to join their team. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, your primary responsibility will be to deliver trade services that pertain to the repair and preventive maintenance of equipment and infrastructure within the Forest District.

This role will involve a variety of tasks, including the use of lawn care equipment for mowing grass, as well as the installation and upkeep of signs and gates throughout the area. You will also be responsible for setting up kiosks in various locations across the state forest lands.

In addition to these duties, you will engage in the construction and maintenance of trails and roads, ensuring they remain accessible and safe for public use. During winter months, you will utilize basic snow removal tools to clear sidewalks and parking lots, facilitating safe access for visitors.

Moreover, your role will extend to supporting wildfire suppression efforts by maintaining essential equipment and actively participating in related activities, thereby contributing to the overall safety and preservation of the forest environment.

Work Schedule and Additional Information
  • This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026, through November 2026, at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment March 2027.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY Minimum Experience and Training Requirements
  • Two years of experience in general maintenance work which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
Special Requirements
  • This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
