Seeking a Senior Process Safety Specialist to lead and support process safety initiatives within a chemical manufacturing environment. This role focuses on identifying, evaluating, and mitigating risks associated with hazardous chemicals, reactive processes, and high-energy systems, while partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure regulatory compliance and safe, reliable operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) programs, as applicable.
- Lead or participate in Process Hazard Analyses (HAZOP, What-If, LOPA) and Management of Change (MOC) reviews.
- Maintain process safety documentation, including process safety information, operating procedures, and mechanical integrity records.
- Evaluate risks related to flammable, toxic, corrosive, and reactive chemicals.
- Support safe storage, handling, and transfer of hazardous materials.
- Partner with engineering teams on equipment design, safeguards, and protective interlocks.
- Support emergency response planning for chemical releases, fires, and explosions.
- Conduct job hazard analyses (JHAs), ergonomic assessments, and exposure evaluations.
- Develop and deliver process safety and chemical hazard training.
- Serve as a technical subject matter expert for process safety and chemical hazard management.
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Safety Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing or processing environments.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA PSM and chemical risk management.
- Experience leading or participating in PHAs and MOC processes.
- Experience with high-hazard chemical operations and capital project support.
- Professional safety certifications (CHMM, ASP, CSP, CCPSC).
- Completion of relevant safety training (HAZWOPER, OSHA 30-Hour, First Aid/CPR/AED).
- Experience with electronic EHS or risk management systems.
