- Utilizes the nursing process in assessing and evaluating patient needs, planning and implementing nursing care, evaluating patient response, progress toward outcomes and revising the plan of care accordingly.
- Provides direct patient care and implements physician orders (administers medications, treatments, IV therapy; meets needs for hygiene, nutrition, positioning and activity; applies other interventions appropriate to patient and SO needs).
- Prioritizes, organizes, delegates care activities as appropriate to patient and shift needs; provides supervision of delegated tasks.
- Assesses readiness and need for patient/SO education including discharge planning needs; provides appropriate teaching and support.
- Communicates and collaborates with the physician and other health care providers to meet patient needs; participates in rounds, utilizes lab results, progress notes and other parts of the medical record to keep informed regarding patient condition.
- Documents assessments, evaluations, and interventions; provides other verbal, written and automated communication as needed.
- Good communication skills, flexibility, and a caring attitude.
- Thoroughness and attention to detail.
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and a current license in the state of Nebraska is required.
- BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications are required.
