Position: Next Gen & Adult Ministries Director

Overview

We’re Hiring:
Next Gen & Adult Ministries Director
. Want to shape the next generation AND grow into broader pastoral leadership? This might be your calling. Canyon Hills Friends Church is looking for a Next Gen & Adult Ministries Director — a high-capacity, high-character leader who loves students, builds leaders, and wants to grow into expanded pastoral influence over time. This is a youth-forward role (about 60%) with meaningful adult ministry exposure (about 40%), designed for someone who wants to make a big impact now and grow into more responsibility in the future.

If you’re passionate about the next generation, discipleship, leadership development, outreach, and building something that lasts, we want to meet you.

Your Mission:

  • Build a thriving Youth Ministry.
  • Develop young disciples.
  • Equip leaders.
  • Help shape the future of our church.

You’ll lead Middle School & High School Ministry as your primary focus — creating environments where students meet Jesus, grow in faith, invite friends, and become leaders — while also helping strengthen Life Groups, assimilation, and discipleship pathways across the broader church.

This role is a leadership pipeline, not a dead end. We want to invest in you, mentor you, and help you grow into broader ministry influence.

You’ll Lead (Primary Focus — Youth Ministry, ~60%)

Youth Vision & Programming:

  • Lead and grow Middle School & High School ministries.
  • Build exciting weekly gatherings, small groups, and special events.
  • Create a clear discipleship pathway for students.
  • Lead retreats, camps, outreach nights, and service projects.
  • Build environments that are fun, faith-filled, welcoming, and spiritually powerful.

Teaching, Discipleship & Pastoral Care:

  • Teach regularly in Youth Services.
  • Mentor students and raise up young leaders.
  • Walk with teens through real-life challenges with wisdom and grace.
  • Partner with parents to help families disciple their kids.

Volunteer & Student Leadership Development:

  • Recruit, train, and encourage youth volunteers.
  • Build student leadership teams and pipelines.
  • Create healthy systems so leaders thrive — not burn out.
  • Empower people instead of trying to do everything yourself.

Outreach & Student Mission:

  • Reach unchurched students and help teens invite friends.
  • Create outreach opportunities in schools and the community.
  • Build bridges between Youth Ministry and the larger church family.
What You’ll Grow Into (Secondary Focus — Adult Ministry, ~40%)

Life Groups & Discipleship Pathways:

  • Help strengthen Life Groups, especially Young Adults.
  • Build transition pathways from Youth → Young Adults → Adult Community.
  • Assist in coaching and equipping small group leaders.
  • Contribute to broader church discipleship initiatives.

Assimilation & First Impressions:

  • Support Guest Central and New Visitor follow-up.
  • Help new families and young adults find connection and belonging.
  • Assist with seasonal Sundays like Easter & Christmas.

Leadership Pipeline & Pastoral Development:

  • Receive mentoring, training, and leadership coaching.
  • Gain experience in adult ministry leadership and preaching.
  • Develop skills in vision casting, strategy, team leadership, and pastoral care.
  • Prepare for expanded pastoral responsibility over time.

Church & Pastoral Life:

  • Be part of a collaborative, healthy pastoral team.
  • Participate in pastoral care, prayer, hospital visits, and key services.
  • Support baptisms, weddings, funerals, and special moments.
  • Protect your own spiritual health, Sabbath rhythms, and growth.
We’re Looking for Someone Who:
  • Loves Jesus, students, and the Church.
  • Feels called to long-term pastoral ministry.
  • Has experience leading Youth or Next Gen ministry.
  • Is a strong communicator, relational leader, and team builder.
  • Can cast vision, execute plans, and develop leaders.
  • Is teachable, humble, hungry to grow, and emotionally mature.
  • Aligns with the mission, theology, and culture of CHFC.
  • Ministry degree helpful, but calling, character, and leadership matter more.
Why This Role Is Special:
  • Real influence — not just “busy work”.
  • A clear growth path toward broader pastoral leadership.
  • A church that values Next Gen, discipleship, and innovation.
  • A healthy team culture with vision, mentorship, and support.
  • The chance to shape students, families, and the future.
