This is a full-time on-site role based in Yonkers, NY. The Assisstant Program Director w ill work with the Program Director to oversee and direct the activities of Day Services. Oversight of several service units within the auspices of Jawonio Day Services. Researches and develops new services in conjunction with the team and Director of Day Services.
Responsible for clinical supervision and compliance with assigned services. This role also involves maintaining high standards of service, fostering innovation, and advocating for the needs of program participants.
- Provides comprehensive clinical supervision to day services staff in following and carrying out the prescribed interventions and activities for assigned individuals.
Audits and reviews work being accomplished, providing direction, guidance, and counseling as may be required.
Discusses problems and solutions, providing directions and changing schedules based on program needs. May work with professionals to establish the department and individual goals as a way of determining procedures to be followed. - Overall responsibility for service units assigned, in the absence of a fellow director or the director of day services assumes a leadership role in the coverage of additional services.
- Carries out a broad range of supervisory leadership functions including employment activities, orientation, and training of new employees; completes performance appraisals, training and coaching, motivation, communications, and other activities, as part of oversight for the department. May be required to attend job fairs in conjunction with Human Resources to recruit new employees.
- Monitors compliance with training requirements for staff in conjunction with Human Resources and the Training Department. Develops training modules specific to the needs of the staff and departments and implement them as needed. Facilitates agency-wide training to ensure staff is up to date with required services.
- Facilitates intake and admissions within the department and in conjunction with CLS, Nursing, the Behavior Support Team, QA, and Finance. Completes the intake process with individuals, families, and care managers and sends required documentation to thefunder, following up on status as indicated. May be required to enroll the individual into Choices and complete all documents as required by OPWDD.
- Oversees the development of curriculum, schedules, and volunteer participation. Conducts staff meetings to discuss new policies, and approaches, and to review incidents and experiences to improve the effectiveness of the department staff. Write, review, and certify staff action plans as needed. May chair team meetings.
- Problem-solves staffing coverage with supervisor/team leader including transportation based on the program needs.
- Participates in a broad program of quality assurance.
Carries out quality control which may include attending Incident Review Meetings, Health, and Safety Meetings, and discussions with agency professionals.
Review policies, procedures, compliance, and other related activities as advisable or when necessary to achieve quality assurance objectives. Follow up on incidents as required and respond to Corrective Action Plans. - Participates on agency-wide committees for cross-divisional development of programs/services and development of agency policy and or procedures.
