Responsibilities

The Senior Accountant of Grants Management coordinates and supervises financial and administrative operations and functions for the hospital’s grant funded projects, including major and minor capital projects. Primary areas of responsibility include accounting, financial reporting, budget management, administrative/financial data processing systems, and facilities/ equipment. Oversees both the pre-award and post-award activity for the funding, verify availability of funds and allowable expenses as dictated by funding agency;

communicate new regulations, procedures, and complete final expenditure reports. Forecast future funding and associated expenses.

  • Plan, implement, administer, coordinate, monitor and evaluate the specific activities of all assigned financial and administrative functions relating to federal, state, and local grants. Coordinate and carry out specialized grants management functions.
  • Regularly deal with a variety of problems and challenges relating to changes in all grants funded activities.
  • Work in multiple grant portals including the Statewide Financial System (SFS), the HRSA Electronic Handbook, and the SUMP (NY State Contractor Registry Portal), the NY City ASSPORT system, & the contract compliance systems for NY State, including M/WBE & SDVOB.
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts and projections for grant programs, including construction projects, if requested.
  • Provide supporting information relating to grants projected spending to assist in preparation of budgets during grant application processes.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, public health, or related field required;
    Master’s preferred
  • 1–2 years of relevant financial experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Construction financial system experience preferred
  • Strong computer skills required, especially MS Excel; MS Access preferred or willingness to learn
  • Knowledge of nonprofit operations and federal/state grant funding
  • Strong attention to detail and accountability
  • Excellent organizational, administrative, budget management, and independent work planning skills
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills; ability to represent the hospital to external agencies and partners
  • Strong leadership ability, sound judgment, and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to plan, organize, implement, and evaluate goals and procedures
  • Works well independently and collaboratively; adapts positively to change
  • Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle required
