A Multi‑Skilled Vehicle Accident Repair Technician repairs all elements of a vehicle after it has taken some type of collision damage. This will involve learning the skills required to take an accident‑damaged vehicle through various stages of repair to the pre‑accident condition.
Key Skill Areas- MET‑Mechanical, Electrical & Trim – refit processes of all main vehicle systems including air‑conditioning, vehicle alignment and hybrid & electric vehicle systems
- Panel Repair – bodywork by replacing panels, filling defects, and carrying out welding, bonding, riveting and correcting misalignment
- Paint‑Surface Repair – surface preparation, sealing, masking, priming, base coat and lacquer application, defect repair and polishing
- British Standard Welding Certificate (BS1140 & BS4872 covering .5mm to 2.5mm material, including IMI AOM

- Electric and Hybrid Repair
- Senior Accredited Assessment
- The programme lasts 30 months and includes 24 one‑week blocks of on‑site training at EMTEC’s Nottingham centre.
- Residential accommodation and meals are provided.
- Candidates will work toward the Level 3 Accident Repair Technician Apprenticeship Standard and study for Level 2 Maths and English functional skills where required.
- Regular visits from EMTEC Vocational Learning Advisors for evidence of learning.
- Self‑directed learning outside normal working hours, monitored via an online portal.
- Additional off‑the‑job training to achieve British Standard Welding accreditation, MIG brazing with IMI AOM
133, Bonding & Riveting EC842, Refrigerant Handling IMIAL L3 मौसम and Electric & Hybrid Repair Senior Automotive Technician accreditation.
- Identify and apply techniques to document hazards and risks in the workplace and implement control measures.
- Apply health and safety procedures and safe systems of work in compliance with regulations and standards.
- Plan work activities and organise resources considering cost, quality,atham safety, security and environmental impact.
- Apply sustainability principles and continuous improvement techniques.
- Read and interpret information such as text, data, engineering drawings, job cards, risk assessments, and work instructions.
- Record and enter information—paper‑based or electronic—including
Arch method statements and waste environmental records. - Communicate verbally with colleagues and stakeholders and in writing robot.
- Test the function of repaired, fitted and connected components.
- Stock control—check, replenish and complete returns.
- Resolve problems encountered during the accident repair process and report issues that cannot be resolved.
- Operate electrical and electronic control systems such as programmable ले logic control systems, relay systems and electronic drive systems.
- Use diagnostic tools for fault finding such as multi‑meters and electronic diagnostic tools.
- Remove damaged and associated mechanical components from a vehicle, re‑assemble and replace existing mechanical components, and remove and refit trim components.
- Fit electrical components and systems, diagnose and rectify vehicle electrical faults.
- Diagnose, remove, replace and recalibrate Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) components.
- Repair and replace nonажа-structural body panels, refurbish trim components and remove / repair / replace structural body panels (excluding chassis legs).
- Identify and rectify vehicle body misalignment, apply body filler and foundation materials, and prepare & finish metal, plastic and pre‑painted surfaces.
- Apply paint, primer and base coats, topcoats and clear coats, and complete final refinishing operations.
- Apply smart repair technologies, Paintless Dent Removal (PDR) and equity, diversity and inclusion principles.
- Apply mechanical societat and non‑mechanical joining techniques.
- Record planned and unplanned learning and development activities.
- Wage – £15,704 for the first year, with potential increases after successful probation.
- Hours – Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 17:00 (40 hours per week). For those over 18, the hours would be 42.5 hours per week.
- Start date – 16 March 2026; duration of 2 years 9 months.
