Job SummaryAs an Electronic Controllers Apprentice at Honeywell, in Yeovil, you will be joining our dynamic Electronic Controllers team. Rotating departments throughout your apprenticeship to acquire experience, knowledge and skills in Design, Project Engineering, Test Engineering, Test Design, Systems Engineering and more. You will work alongside qualified and experienced Honeywell Engineers to develop your electronics and software design engineering skills whilst undertaking part time academic studies at Yeovil College.
This role is part of our University Relations program, designed to help students and recent graduates launch their careers with hands‑on experience, mentorship, and opportunities for growth within Honeywell. This apprenticeship is set up for a duration of 5 years with an aimed start date of 3rd August 2026.

Key Responsibilities and QualificationsFor this Degree level Electromechanical Engineer apprenticeship, Honeywell will provide you with the below, alongside a salary, with annual uplifts, and competitive benefits.
A level 6 (integrated degree) BEng Electromechanical engineering; BSc engineering, or another engineering degree, and a level 4 EAL Diploma in engineering and advanced manufacturing (development competence). Alternatively, a Level 6 Digital and Technology Solutions Professional integrated degree could be offered, where a software engineering focus is appropriate.
Within the Electronic Controllers team, work will focus around developing and qualifying hardware and embedded software solutions, which control aircraft life support systems and environmental control systems. You will learn electronic circuit development, printed circuit board design, and enclosure design, to name but a few!
Skills- Test Solutions:
Test Solutions design and execute facility upgrades, test equipment and test setups. This includes safety systems, calibration, test rig automation, measurement & control. The facilities and test equipment that we design and build support the Qualification and Development phase of the Honeywell product lifecycle. - Test Execution:
Test Execution are responsible for the Qualification and Development phase of the Honeywell product lifecycle. This ranges from the compilation of Procedures and Reports to the operation of complex test facilities simulating harsh aircraft environments to demonstrate reliability and suitability of the product to meet the customers’ needs. - Systems Engineering:
Systems engineering are responsible for system architecture & design, including the generation of requirement specifications and the co‑ordination of validation and qualification activities. System engineering are often the customer technical interface and are involved in bid & proposal activities & technology roadmaps reviews. - Project Engineering:
Project Engineers are the responsible Engineers for a project’s Schedule, Cost and technical execution. The Project Engineer has to co‑ordinate all project tasks with various departments and suppliers to ensure all customer deliverables are met. The PE will have to compile documentation and be a reviewer for all documents to ensure requirements are met. The PE also interfaces with the customer, managing project scope and relations. - Design Engineering:
The Design department is responsible for all aspects of the hardware design, ensuring the product meets the requirements of the customer for many elements including, manufacturability, cost, performance, material selection, stress, mass and environmental suitability to name a few.
