O&M Expert Technician – Voltalia

Voltalia’s subsidiary for the O&M and EPC third‑party services is seeking an experienced O&M Expert Technician to support the O&M Operations Team in the United Kingdom.

The role is a hands‑on supervisory position, providing technical support, mentoring, skill training and supervision to site technicians. The successful candidate will work alongside technicians to address technical challenges, complete maintenance activities according to service‑level requirements and communicate with the Area Coordinator to support service delivery, team operations and planning.

• Assist the O&M Area Coordinator with coordination of the team, tools and equipment, ensuring sufficient resources for work implementation and contract management for the O&M of PV plants.
• Address customer inquiries and provide technical support.
• Conduct site visits to assess and resolve customer issues.
• Supervise the implementation of maintenance plans, ensuring safe working practices are followed at all times.
• Promote and supervise the implementation of the company’s procedures and guidelines within the technician team.
• Support the communication, implementation and adherence to Electrical Safety Rules, good practices, legal and HSE requirements within the technician team.
• Perform regular on‑site technical inspections of the technical team, review skills and competency, and make training recommendations as per guidance.
• Support the coordination of the technical team by providing follow‑up reports and feedback on the services delivered by the O&M field team and subcontractors.
• Implement quality control measures to maintain high standards.
• Support coordination between on‑site teams and Remote Services (RO&ME).
• Participate with O&M technicians in hands‑on tasks, preventive maintenance and/or corrective activities for troubleshooting and diagnosing failures, as required.
• Participate in an on‑call rota as and when required, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures and legal requirements at all times.

• Degree/HND or equivalent in electrical engineering or related technical discipline is essential.
• JIB/ECS Gold Card certifications are mandatory.
• Five years of demonstrated electrical engineering experience in the solar industry.
• Formal electrical qualifications – 18th Edition Wiring Regulations and City & Guilds Inspection and Testing.
• Experience with maintenance management processes and systems.
• High Voltage Systems knowledge – experience with high‑voltage systems and maintenance, ideally with HVAP1 training or higher.
• Knowledge of Utility‑Scale Technical Design (PV systems).
• Proficient user of Microsoft Office and IT systems.
• Availability to travel within the designated area of the UK for limited periods and at short notice.
• Full UK driving licence, necessary for travelling to sites in and around the designated UK area.
• Proof of legal right to work in the UK.
