The Financial Analyst, Budget and Variance is part of the Budgeting and Variance Reporting branch of NTHSSA Finance. The Analyst performs comprehensive analysis and forecasting for the Authority and assists with the consolidation of financial variance reporting on a quarterly basis.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) & Canadian Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS).
- Knowledge of internal financial and accounting controls.
- Knowledge of financial planning and budgetary development concepts.
- Knowledge of Annual Budget and Financial Cycles.
Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:
- A bachelor's degree in commerce or related discipline with a major in accounting and two (2) years related experience.
- Related experience can include, but not limited to:
- Responsibility for Organization-Wide Budgeting
- Budget Monitoring and Variance Reporting
- Consolidating Financial Information
- Forecasting and Financial Analysis
- Financial reporting within a large and complex public-sector environment
- A diploma in accounting and four (4) years related experience.
- All other equivalencies will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
