Instructor, Social Work

Aurora College is seeking a passionate and dedicated Instructor, Social Work to deliver high-quality post-secondary programming to adult learners across the Northwest Territories. Reporting to the Program Head, Social Work, you will primarily teach within the Social Work program while supporting other health programs as needed. This role plays a key part in empowering students and strengthening communities across the NWT.

• Plan, develop, and deliver engaging post-secondary courses
• Evaluate and revise curriculum to meet accreditation and program standards
• Support and mentor adult learners through academic advising and feedback
• Promote a positive learning environment grounded in cultural awareness and northern realities
• Contribute to program development, College service, and community engagement

• Master's Degree in Social Work with three (3) years of Social Work experience, including two (2) years in northern Canadian communities and two (2) years of post-secondary instructional experience in Social Work.
• Other requirements:
  Eligibility for, or current registration as, a Registered Social Worker with the GNWT and completion of six (6) weeks of full time coursework in adult education within the first two (2) years of employment and completion of a certificate in Adult Education within five (5) years of hire.
• Equivalencies: A PhD in Social Work and one (1) year of experience in the field of Social Work in northern communities of Canada and one (1) year of instructional experience in the field of Social Work at the post-secondary level.
• Two (2) years of instructional experience in the field of social work at the post-secondary level includes experience mentoring and educating students or staff (e.g., field supervision, educational roles, or teaching).
