Under the direction of the Vice President of Facilities & Safety, the HVAC Technician serves as the campus’s sole technician in HVAC service and repair—playing a critical role in shaping the daily comfort, safety, and functionality of our learning environment. This independent, hands‑on position is responsible for maintaining and repairing a variety of residential and light commercial HVAC systems that support classrooms, labs, administrative offices, and student spaces.
The work performed directly impacts the success of our students and employees by ensuring a well‑maintained, climate‑controlled campus where people can thrive.
Responsibilities include:
- Maintaining and repairing HVAC systems in classrooms, labs, administrative offices, and student spaces.
- Working on campus and off‑site as needed, collaborating with a team.
- Performing tasks that require lifting heavy objects, climbing ladders, operating lift equipment, and standing, bending, and kneeling for long periods.
- Ensuring compliance with safety procedures to avoid injuries from falls, burns, electrical hazards, cuts, and inclement weather.
Qualifications:
- Five (5) years of hands‑on experience as an HVAC technician, with a focus on service and repair work.
- EPA Universal Certification.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficient in operating a computer and using technology.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed on campus and off‑site as required. The schedule is Monday through Thursday, 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM, 40 hours per week. Flexibility for occasional after‑hours or overtime is expected.
Duties may require working indoors or outdoors. Work may be strenuous, involve lifting heavy objects, climbing ladders or stairs, operating lift equipment, maneuvering in tight spaces, and standing, bending, sitting, reaching, crouching, stooping, and kneeling for long periods of time. Risks include injury from falls, burns, electrical hazards, cuts, and exposure to inclement weather.
WAGE RANGE: $33 – $38 per hour (non‑exempt, full‑time). Wage increases may be granted annually at 3% depending on budget approval.
