Our Staff Pharmacists play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence in their pharmacy by acting as a role model for all, demonstrating genuine care, and setting the bar for the pharmacy team.

As a Staff Pharmacist, you are accountable for supporting the management, oversight, and operation of all aspects within your pharmacy.

Responsibilities
  • Live our purpose by helping to manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.
  • Take direction from the Pharmacy Manager and oversee the pharmacy as their proxy during bench shifts, strengthening pharmacy performance measures through effective coaching and consistent follow‑up.
  • Assume Pharmacy Manager’s day‑to‑day duties when serving as the only or the primary pharmacist‑on‑duty.
  • Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following and directing the pharmacy team to follow pharmacy workflow procedures and utilizing safety guardrails at every workstation.
  • Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, coaching the pharmacy team to do the same.
  • Proactively offer and deliver immunizations and engage and support Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize.
  • Support effective management of pharmacy inventory, including protecting cold chain products.
  • Partner with the Pharmacy Manager to ensure compliance with the appropriate state Board of Pharmacy regulations.
  • Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, supporting schedule creation as directed.
  • Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills, and actively seek opportunities to expand knowledge.
  • Support access to care and improve patient outcomes through pharmacist‑delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services where permissible.
  • Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and CVS Health policies.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located.
  • Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
  • Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list.
Essential Functions
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe.
  • Attention and Focus: concentrate on tasks, pivot quickly, confirm prescription info and label accuracy.
  • Customer Service and Team Orientation: look for ways to help people in a friendly manner, understand patients’ reactions.
  • Communication

    Skills:

    use and understand verbal and written communication, active listening.
  • Mathematical Reasoning: use math to solve problems such as determining total number of tablets or supply.
  • Issue Resolution: identify challenging interactions and choose best actions.
  • Physical Demands: mobile, able to lift up to 20 lbs., perform repetitive finger work, stoop, etc.
  • Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1–2 years of related experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service.
  • Ability to work in other locations across the market as business needs require.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is
$60.00 – $76.00 per hour.

This range represents the base hourly rate or annual salary. The actual offer depends on experience, education, geography and other factors. This position is eligible for a bonus, commission or short‑term incentive program in addition to the base pay.
