YNHS Position:
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP)

Minimum Qualifications
  • Current and unrestricted license as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) in the state of Washington with a specialization in psychiatric/mental health
    .
  • Board certified as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).
  • DEA registration and prescriptive authority in Washington State.
  • Experience providing psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and therapeutic interventions to diverse populations.
  • Preferred:
    Bilingual in English/Spanish, and or proficiency in American Sign Language.
  • Must not be sanctioned or excluded from participation in federal or state healthcare programs.
Typical Physical Demands and Working Conditions
  • Requires sitting for extended periods, working at a computer terminal.
  • Occasional bending, stretching, and lifting of up to 30 pounds.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination required for use of medical instruments, phones, and computers.
  • Ability to sustain concentration in a fast-paced and sometimes noisy environment.
  • Local travel using own vehicle may be required for outreach or home visits.
Examples of Duties (this list may not include all duties assigned)
  • Provide diagnostic consultation to primary care provider team.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions including brief counseling and crisis management.
  • Collaborate with integrated care teams to address behavioral health needs of patients.
  • Screen patients for behavioral health conditions and refer to appropriate services.
  • Coordinate care with internal providers and external mental health/social service agencies.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case reviews and care planning.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Ensure patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities and peer review.
  • Represent YNHS in community meetings and collaborative networks as requested.
  • Support education and training initiatives for staff and patients related to behavioral health.
  • Provide services at both clinic and satellite locations, including outreach to homeless populations.
  • Assist patients, and families as appropriate, to interpret and manage maladaptive behaviors and to plan healthy lifestyle changes.
  • Work with patients to improve adherence to medical recommendations and medication compliance.
  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications in accordance with Washington State law and clinical guidelines.
  • Collaborate with primary care medical providers and mental health staff in the design and delivery of patient care.
  • Participate in the agency’s 340B Pharmaceutical program for best outcomes to the patient and the program.
