Brass Instructor

Ted Brown Music in Yakima has an exciting opportunity for a part-time general brass Instructor (Trumpet, Trombone, etc.). Our instructors offer private lessons to Ted Brown customers with a broad range of abilities and backgrounds. We are seeking an experienced brass instructor who is passionate about music, teaching, and nurturing musical abilities in children and adults. Ideally, the applicant will be an established brass instructor with a record of successful teaching.

Ted brown Music is a family owned and operated one stop music source. Our doors opened in 1931, and we continue with a 94-year-old tradition, facilitating musical needs. We are a local company with locations in Tacoma, Puyallup, Richland, Yakima, Silverdale and Seattle. This has provided us with statewide name recognition and a leader for kids and adult music lessons.

• Flexibility and the ability to work Saturdays
• Strong background working with and instructing children
• Private studio lessons for general students
• Instruction both for students who intend to pursue a career in music and for those who wish to enrich their lives through non-career-oriented study and performance
• Instruction emphasizes a personal approach in a lively musical environment that encourages individual discovery and the realization of artistic potential
• Ability to teach a variety of styles, most particularly classical and jazz
• Although a music degree is not a requirement, at least a two-year (or higher) degree is strongly preferred and one year or more of teaching experience. Lack of these supplemental qualifications will not necessarily disqualify applicants, although possession of these competencies will be immensely helpful.
• Music instructors are required to complete a criminal background check prior to occupying lesson studios.
